The Green Man

Each year we get a Green Man, who is burnt at the end of the festival. Many people say if he wasn't burnt he won't get angry and make it rain every year.  Anyway, here he is in various incarnations:

2009

The first Green Man arrived in 2009, and to be honest was pretty scary! I guess that's because all my photos are at night, but still, this must have given some people nightmares!



2010

For some reason I can't find a photo from 2010. Was there one? If you've got a photo and don't mine me posting send it to me!

2011

This year's Green Man looked for friendly, and had a great set of foot print leading up.



2012

This Green Man was standing rather than sitting, and we had a cool photo frame to look through.




2013


By 2013 the Green Man had become a serious construction! You could get in side this one, climbing the steps.




2014


The 2014 Green Man had the most amazing face!


2015


2015's Green Man was a less ornate affair, back with a more traditional green man face.



2016

A thirsty Green Man for 2016!


2017

The 2017 Green Man was simply stunning! Green Man and a welsh dragon. So good he gets two photos!

Line Up - 2003

I didn't go to this one - it's been recreated by internet archeology! This one was in Craig Y Nos Castle, Abercrave, Powys. The names that really stick out are James Yorkston, King Creosote and Gravenhurst. I'm guessing Pictish Trail must have played with Kink Creosote or James Yorkston, as he's played every year. The Stages - 2006

2006 was the first Green Man at Glan Usk, and pretty small compared to today. The Mountain Stage has always been in the same place, but it was tiny compared to today. It still looked impressive against the mountains though... The same can't be said of the thirds stage, which is the Walled Garden now.  Then it was in the courtyard, and was a gazebo! It's worth putting a few photos of that because it's so mad! Finally, I think this is where the Folkey Dokey stage was...
